24 Hours in Savannah, Georgia:
The Perfect One-Day Itinerary
Whether you’re stopping in for a day, extending a work trip, or making the most of a wedding weekend, 24 hours in Savannah is enough to fall in love with the city’s charm. From moss-covered oak trees and historic squares to incredible food and riverfront views, here’s exactly how I’d spend one perfect day in Savannah.
8:00 AM – Breakfast at B. Matthew’s Eatery
Start your morning with a classic Savannah breakfast at B. Matthew’s Eatery. It’s one of my favorite places to bring visitors because it has a relaxed atmosphere, delicious Southern-inspired dishes, and it’s within walking distance of many downtown attractions.
They have THE best Bloody Mary’s in the city and the best part is, you can take one to-go!
Pro Tip: Arrive early on weekends—there’s often a wait.
9:30 AM – Walk Through the Historic District
Savannah is a city best explored on foot.
Spend the morning wandering through the historic squares, admiring the beautiful homes, and taking in the famous oak trees draped in Spanish moss.
Don’t miss:
- Chippewa Square
- Madison Square
- Monterey Square
- Jones Street (one of the prettiest streets in America!)
11:00 AM – Meet at Savannah Taste Experience for a walking food tour
One of my favorite ways to experience Savannah is through its food! This tour is the perfect mix of exploring the city, hearing its stories, and trying some of the best local bites along the way.
Come hungry!!
2:00 PM – Shop Along Broughton Street
Spend the afternoon browsing local boutiques, bookstores, gift shops, and home décor stores.
It’s a fun mix of national retailers and locally owned businesses.
3:30 PM – River Street
Walk down to River Street to watch cargo ships pass, explore the waterfront, and grab an afternoon drink or snack.
If it’s your first visit, this is one of Savannah’s most iconic areas.
5:30 PM – Rooftop Drinks
One of my favorite ways to end the day is with rooftop views.
If you’re looking for a recommendation, Bar Julian is one of my favorites.
7:00 PM – Dinner
Treat yourself to a memorable dinner before heading home.
Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or simply enjoying the city, Savannah has incredible restaurants for every style and budget.
If You Have Extra Time…
If your schedule allows, consider adding:
- A ghost tour
- A riverboat cruise
- Bonaventure Cemetery
- Tybee Island
- A food tour
My Tips for First-Time Visitors
- Wear comfortable walking shoes—you’ll walk more than you think
- Bring water, especially during the warmer months. My owala is my best friend!
- Expect afternoon showers in the summer. You’ll want this.
- Download the ParkSav app if you’re driving.
- Take your time—Savannah is a city meant to be wandered.
Final Thoughts
Twenty-four hours will give you a wonderful introduction to Savannah, but don’t be surprised if you find yourself planning another trip before you even leave.
Whether you’re here for a wedding, a girls’ getaway, or just passing through, I hope this itinerary helps you make the most of your time in one of my favorite cities.
